So you expected something else?

The Supreme Court has issued its opinion regarding criminal immunity for former Presidents. Their opinion benefits Trump as would be expected from a majority conservative court.

They indicated that former Presidents are immune from criminality for anything done as a part of their official duties. However, they did NOT indicate what an unofficial duty might be. That, evidently, is up to the lower courts to hash out.

IMHO anything having to do with running for office, or trying to stay in office, is not a part of their official duties. It’s part of their activities as a private citizen.

Trump is still facing multiple court cases – many of which relate to trying to get back into office – or stay in office as it relates to the 2020 election. It would be nice if those cases could be resolved before the November 5th election, but probably none will be. That is since prosecutors now have to re-evaluate their cases to make sure none of their evidence is something that derives from the former President’s official activities while in office.

An example of that would be his speech galvanizing and entreating rabid supporters to go over to the Capitol Building and fight like hell. Is that part of an official activity or is it a part of trying to stay in office? IMHO it has to be considered the latter. Therefore it would be admissible as evidence.

We need to vote to re-elect Biden and allow the Trump court cases to continue. We don’t want TFG back in office anyway.

Don’t sit on the sidelines!

128 days until the Presidential election. I believe that between now and the day the first mail in ballots can be submitted is the most important time to take action. Potential voters need to be motivated to vote. What can you do? I’ll tell you what I do.

First, it’s too hot outside here in Arizona and I can’t walk as far as I used to do. I don’t really like to start up conversations with strangers about politics. But, I can drive. And I can write. And I can donate small amounts. So the following are things that I have done and can suggest for you:

1. Get in touch with your local Legislative District. Find out what they need.

2. Put out yard signs for Biden/Harris and your own congressional candidates.

3. Write postcards and letters. Your legislative district can provide names and addresses. They can also give you a recommended script for your cards and letters.

4. Contribute stamps. Either on the postcards and letters you write or in bulk for the use of your legislative district.

5. Drive door knockers around to the locations where they need to speak to potential voters.

6. Drive to deliver yard signs to those that need them.

7. Volunteer to help out staffing your local legislative district office.

8. Make a small contribution. Sure, you probably get a dozen or more political solicitations every day, but somewhere along the line, pick out whatever you think is most important and contribute something. At least once.

Those are just a start. There’s much more that can be done. Just don’t sit on the sidelines. Your time and effort and money make a huge difference.

We’re Calling It A Debate…

Let’s face it, you know that both sides are going to say their candidate wiped up the floor with their opponent. The result will be interpreted thru the eyes of the viewer.

From MY viewpoint as a Biden supporter with admitted severe Trump Derangement Syndrome, I’m very happy they are going to be able to mute the mics when a candidate’s time is up. Trump doesn’t know how to stop talking or how not to interrupt. Now if only they would put a fence around him so he can’t walk up behind Biden.

Biden, on the other hand, is a courteous and polite individual who always tries to listen to what others have to say. If he disagrees, he does it in a non-confrontational manner which promotes friendly discourse. Trump has the kind of personality that makes him feel he’s always number one, to the extent that he will shove foreign leaders aside to make sure he is front and center in photographs.

Let’s see if the debaters can stick to the issues rather than denigrating their opponent. It would also help to have instant verification of their statements about their personal accomplishments in office. I would anticipate Biden would do better on both points.

Biden’s My Guy

I’ve said that before on other platforms, but really! He is!

He’s older than me (slightly). I’m 80 at the moment. So I can relate to how he walks and talks, although I’ve never had to overcome a stutter. That must have been hard. Unfortunately, his opposition uses that handicap to cut Biden down, claiming that he is unable to speak distinctly. However, when he does speak, he has cogent thoughts – as opposed to his opposition who just rants on and on and on about nonsensical and unrelated ideas.

When you compare him to his opposition, TFG, to me it is very clear that Biden is the better man. He is able to accomplish many tasks that are beneficial to the American public regarding health care, education, gun control and voting rights despite continual road blocks thrown in his way by the radical Republicans in the U. S. House of Representatives. He can do this because he surrounds himself with good, honest, hardworking, middle-of-the-road people who aren’t going to be breaking the law on a daily basis. That’s as contrasted to TFG who enlists radical conservatives who want to remove our rights, and frequently end up becoming felons in their own right.

Biden learned how to cross the aisle during his many years in Congress. That’s important, because it is how you are supposed to get things done in Congress. In this upcoming election we need to make sure we elect a Democratic majority so we can overcome those Republican road blocks.

More tomorrow.
