128 days until the Presidential election. I believe that between now and the day the first mail in ballots can be submitted is the most important time to take action. Potential voters need to be motivated to vote. What can you do? I’ll tell you what I do.
First, it’s too hot outside here in Arizona and I can’t walk as far as I used to do. I don’t really like to start up conversations with strangers about politics. But, I can drive. And I can write. And I can donate small amounts. So the following are things that I have done and can suggest for you:
1. Get in touch with your local Legislative District. Find out what they need.
2. Put out yard signs for Biden/Harris and your own congressional candidates.
3. Write postcards and letters. Your legislative district can provide names and addresses. They can also give you a recommended script for your cards and letters.
4. Contribute stamps. Either on the postcards and letters you write or in bulk for the use of your legislative district.
5. Drive door knockers around to the locations where they need to speak to potential voters.
6. Drive to deliver yard signs to those that need them.
7. Volunteer to help out staffing your local legislative district office.
8. Make a small contribution. Sure, you probably get a dozen or more political solicitations every day, but somewhere along the line, pick out whatever you think is most important and contribute something. At least once.
Those are just a start. There’s much more that can be done. Just don’t sit on the sidelines. Your time and effort and money make a huge difference.
